Targeted brain Cooling Therapy 
for brain-injured patients

TEQCool’s intended therapy is dedicated to reduce patient brain temperature through intranasal cooling, where energy is exchanged with the patient via balloon catheters placed in the nasal cavity. The physiological proximity of the nasal cavity to the brain, results in short response time and a significantly lower cooling power is required as compared with conventional cooling systems. This makes the treatment tolerable even for patients who are awake or mildly 

Healthcare professionals can freely access the patient body throughout the cooling treatment since the cooling is transferred only via the nasal cavity. The treatment does not require any surgical procedures and it is minimally invasive.

TREATMENT SYSTEM

The TEQCool system consists of: Single-use nasal cooling kit which includes tubing set and balloon catheters. A cooling device which includes an adjustable touch screen, two cooling elements and two pumps to which the cooling kits are connected. 

The single-use nasal cooling kit consists of a tubing set with a heat exchanger bag that is inserted into the cooling units on the device. The nasal balloon catheter is inserted into the patient’s nasal cavity and connected to the tubing set. Thereby a closed system is created, in which the cooled saline solution is circulated.
